Freshness is the key to truly great beer. At the Foundry Ale Works, the beer is brewed a mere 75 feet from the taps. It just doesn't get any fresher than that.

The Foundry Ale works at 28th and Smallman in the Strip District is one of the best Brew Pubs in the Nation.

The large bar is cordoned off from the dining area by a rustic 4' tall stonewall. Heavy vaulted timbers overhead, create a warm, relaxing atmosphere perfect for quaffing excellent beer.

The Foundry offers a broad selection (11) of house brews on tap. Production capacities dictate that their products be carefully brewed and immediately consumed. To that end, you will never enjoy a fresher, better tasting brew.

If you're not a beer drinker you can still soak up the ambiance with plenty of top shelf liquor combinations. The foundry is also beginning to serve domestic and imported bottled beer, but shame on you if you order one.

The first Thursday of every other month is Geek Night at the Foundry. That's the night when the kids we used to pick on but now make a lot more money than the rest of us get together to swap stories of gigabytes, bandwidth and network protocols. If you're a geek or would like to become one, you must contact the foundry at once to find out about the next scheduled event.

"Bridge Spotters" is another group, meeting every other Friday at the Foundry. This stuff is big in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. Now it's gaining speed in the Burgh. These "cool cats" get together for open mic sessions promoting artistic expression vis-à-vis poetry readings, skits and improvisation.
